Kai Okagawa
Clinical Therapist
Kai is a pre-licensed therapist who completed his Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. He has clinical experience in college mental health and intensive outpatient substance use treatment settings, where he has provided individual counseling, facilitated groups, and supported clients in developing practical coping skills and reflecting on their personal values. Kai works with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, and substance use-related challenges. His approach is client-centered, collaborative, and culturally responsive, and is grounded in honoring each person’s lived experience. He integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing, and person-centered therapy in a flexible way to fit each client’s preferences. He has a strong interest in men's mental health and in supporting clients in building insight, resilience, and meaningful change. He aims to provide a supportive space where clients can explore their experiences and move toward what matters most to them.
